The Max Planck Society rewards Steven Laureys

The Gertrud Reenmtsma Foundation, managed by the Max Planck Society for the Development of Science, has just named its winners in the category of fundamental research in neurology.

Steven Laureys (Coma Science Group - GIGA-Consciousness) was honored by the famous German Scholarly Society. He shares the prize "Klaus Joachim Zülch" 2017 with Giulio Tononi, his Italian counterpart of the American University of Wisconsin-Madison. The two researchers are rewarded for their "fundamental discoveries in the neurology of consciousness and coma". The prize is endowed with 50,000 € that the two experts share equally.

The prize-winners will be honored on Friday 8 September at the Cologne City Hall with a gala dinner the day before.
