Sylvain Delaunay, PhD Excellence Award 2018 of the BSCDB
At the annual meeting of the BSCDB (Belgian Society of Cell Biology and Development), Sylvain Delaunay, a former doctoral student at the cancer signaling laboratory (GIGA-MBD) who is currently in post-doctoral study at the University of Cambridge, received this prestigious "PhD Excellence Award" which rewards the work done during his PhD thesis at GIGA.
This is a reward for Sylvain's work during his doctoral theses in Pierre Close's laboratory between 2012 and 2016, which was published in the Journal of Experimental Medicine in October 2016.
He received this award at the company's annual meeting (BSCDB) in Antwerpen last week. On this occasion, he gave a seminar explaining his work and his projects.
Since his thesis at the GIGA, Sylvain has received a prestigious grant from the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) for a postdoctoral stay in the laboratory of Pr. Michaela FRYE at the University of Cambridge where he is interested in mitochondrial protein translation in cancer.
