In 2012, eight long-term training programs were organized for 90 people from the entire Walloon
Region. Each session included training in transversal skills (biosafety, GxPs, QA, QC, validation, regulatory
afairs, scientifc English, good communication, and team work) in addition to core technical training rela-
ted to immunology, protein production and characterization (2 sessions), molecular biology in biosafety
level 1 to 3 environments, analytical techniques: HPLC-GC-CE, bioinformatics Training Program, project
and team management in biotechnology, soft Skills in Biotechnology.
Most of the trainees topped of their training and boosted their chances on the job market with a
two-month internship in a biotech company. In 2012, the insertion rate was 75%.
We also pursued our partnership with Culture in vivo ASBL, which organizes two-month biotech training
sessions in Nivelles. We set up four 5-day modules focusing on western blotting, animal cell culture, PCR
techniques, real-Time Q-PCR techniques.
These modules were designed to strengthen the specifc technical skills of 44 job-hunters and should
stimulate their professional insertion.
We were also involved in the ‘BioCell R&D training programme’ developed by the Cefochim skills centre
and ULB-Biopark Formation through Biowin. We organized a module focused on microbiology/bacterio-
logy for 11 trainees.
In addition, in November, we organized a new session of the CapBio 1 session in Liège. This new 2-day
training session aims to help job-seekers and students discover the Biotech feld and better understand
the required skills. It was organized in collaboration with Biowin and all the training centres operating in
Wallonia. This event was attended by a total of 20 people.
