EyeD Pharma is a pharmaceutical company dedicated to the development and manufacturing of innovative drug products in ophthalmology. Among the various products developed by EyeD Pharma, TimoD is a non degradable implant designed to safely and efficiently deliver timolol for glaucoma treatment. A model on rabbit eyeball was developed by EyeD Pharma and used during the preclinical phase of implant assessment with MRI. The GIGA-CRC preclinical platform with its high magnetic field MRI 9.4T scanner investigated the use of the MRI technique to visualise and spatially characterise the TimoD implant after its surgical implantation. The MRI sequences as well as all acquisition parameters were identified and optimised to provide 3D MRI images of the the implant in the rabbit eyeball including all needed details. Further experiments are scheduled for human use optimisation.
