Selected applicants who successfully passed all previous stages are invited to attend the Recruitment Day (RD) at the GIGA. This event is organized by the GIGA and applicants receive reimbursement for all travel and accommodation costs. The applicants come to Liège for a one full day. Two weeks prior to the RD applicants receive a program of the day.  Applicants are asked to prepare 10 min. presentation about their Master project. The presentations are given in public and followed by an open discussion with the SC members, GIGA researchers and other applicants. Additionally, each applicant performs a written challenge that consists of a research article summary writing and logic tasks.

Selection criteria for Stage 4

Based on a research presentation, discussions and informal talks, the following aspects will be assessed: applicant’s motivation and enthusiasm; level of academic knowledge and skills; capacity of an applicant to explain a research project and hold a discussion; communication skills and social interactions. Additionally, the results of the logic tests and article summary are taken into account.

Within the next three days after the Recruitment Day the Selection Committee meets for the final decision. High priority applicants will be offered a position at the GIGA Doctoral School and will be given two weeks for consideration and a decision about the job offer. Non-eligible candidates and candidates from the reserve list will be notified of the results of the Recruitment Day within five working days. If any of the high priority applicants declines a position offer, the next applicant (based on the final ranking) will be contacted and offered a position.
