Biography
As a physical therapist by training, I am interested in developing novel neurorehabilitation strategies for patients with mild to severe brain injuries. My research primarily focuses on non-invasive brain stimulation to enhance neuroplasticity and facilitate functional recovery in brain-injured patients. Additionally, I work with neuroimaging and electrophysiology to characterize the mechanisms underlying neuromodulation approaches in functional recovery and brain plasticity. I am also actively involved in initiatives promoting the accurate clinical assessment of patients with acquired brain injury.
After earning my Ph.D. in 2015, I completed a two-year postdoctoral research fellowship at the Neuromodulation Lab, Spaulding Rehabilitation Center, Harvard Medical School, under the mentorship of Prof. Fregni. I also collaborated closely with Prof. Giacino, Director of Rehabilitation Neuropsychology in the Department of Physical Medicine at Harvard Medical School. I continued as an Adjunct Research Fellow at the Neuromodulation Lab until 2021.
In 2017, I returned to the University of Liège with an FNRS postdoctoral fellowship and, in 2020, became co-director of the Coma Science Group at GIGA-Consciousness, ULiege, alongside my colleague, Dr. Olivia Gosseries. The following year, I became an FNRS Research Associate and an Associate Professor at ULiege. Most recently, I established the NeuroRecovery Lab, dedicated to advancing neuromodulation techniques to promote neuroplasticity and functional recovery in brain-injured patients, from concussion to coma.
