Andreas Schlitzer is the head of the Quantitative Systems Biology Group of the Life and Medical Sciences Institute of the University of Bonn.
They are an interdisciplinary group of scientists employing state of the art experimental and computational approaches to unravel heterogeneity and function of the human and mouse mononuclear phagocyte system.
Using Systems Biology to delineate the role of mononuclear phagocytes during health and disease.
Mononuclear phagocytes, such as Dendritic cells, macrophages and monocytes are gatekeepers of organ homeostasis and inflammation.
The lab studies how these cells develop and gain their specialized functions during health and disease.
To gain novel insights into this spectacular cellular compartment of the innate immune system they utilize state of the art high dimensional transcriptomic, spatial and proteomic approaches coupled to computational analysis.
This integrative approach allows them a unique perspective on the complexity of the human and mouse mononuclear phagocyte system.
